Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel is the
book that all incoming second graders must read over the summer. The
second grade teachers love this book and have a lot of activities planned for
September.
Here are some activities you can do with this book at home:
Get to know the author Arnold Lobel and enjoy his other books
Preview and take a Picture Walk through the book before reading
Retell the story in your own words
Draw and write about your favorite part of the story

and please purchase only the items on
the list. Your desk isn't big enough for extras!*
*Two colorful file
folders with inside pockets at the bottom
* A small plastic pencil box or a zippered pencil bag
*Dry Erase Marker (thin black point)
*Yellow highlighter
* 2 glue sticks
* Safety scissors
*Hard-cover, marble composition book (9 1/4 x 7 1/2-100 pages)
*Hand Sanitizer (travel size-waterless)
*Pencil sharpener
*Colored Pencils (optional)
ITEMS FROM HOME
*Art smock or an old shirt (name on shirt)
*Lunch box (name on the outside)
*School bag (name on bag)
RAINY DAY BOX
In a shoebox or plastic shoebox, place some of your favorite things to
do on rainy days for indoor recess. Write your name on the outside of the
box.
